The Art of Not Trying

A Hampton Psychotherapy Short Segment

“State of Being” is a concept we regularly hear Buddhists and other enlightened beings discuss in detail.

The notion that we can just “be” — without trying or efforting is a radical one to consider.

Yet, the most prosperous people on the planet completely understand this, without remotely compromising their hustle or grind.

For an initial example, consider Mother Nature.

She doesn’t try. She simply exists.

She expects the next season to arrive without stress or question. She does not worry as to whether the plants are going to grow or the trees are going to sprout their leaves in the Spring.

She does not feel sadness that the leaves will “die” in the Fall, but instead, treats us to a wildly colorful presentation to celebrate the metaphoric transition of one season into another.

Being is simply allowing without needing, trying, desiring or pressuring.

The ambitious individual (something I was for many years) is almost always, perpetually living in a state of “wanting”.

Although we usually associate ambition with success, they could not be more ideologically opposed to one another.

People like Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Barbara Corcoran and Oprah Winfrey, understand that ambition only serves its true purpose when it’s tempered with a fully abundant inner-prosperity.

Although their dreams and desires are most certainly immense, they do not pursue these desires from a place of wanting, but instead — a place of faith, trust, knowing and fulfillment, even prior to constructing a new idea or concept.

As a Social Scientist who has studied and profiled over 500 successful people, it’s evident to me that successful people do not “want anything”.

They simply understand that not “wanting” what they desire—but instead, viewing their desires as concepts that would be lucky to benefit from their creation and involvement, is the genuine and true key to manifesting their dreams.

An even more spiritually wise realization, is allowing a higher power to decide the right path for you.

Can we allow and trust in an infinite wisdom?

Can we allow “God” or “The Universe” to deliver all forms of inspiration and guidance to us, instead of feeling the need to be a “micro-manging demigod of desire” at all times?

Can you sit and be present without needing?

What happens on the interior will always manifest on the exterior, in some way shape or form.

When you are abundant, trusting and present — without desiring anything, you will always receive more prosperous abundance.
